Curriculum

Lighthouse Christian Academy (LCA) is the, American based, official accredited certification authority incorporating the Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) curriculum.

The ACE curricula are followed by Sonrise Christian School, with its accredited Grade 12 graduation certificate being accepted as university admission in South Africa by the South African Quality Assurance body (SAQA), as well as by numerous overseas based universities.

Our curricula (ACE) complies with the criteria stipulated by the South African Department of Basic Education’s Curriculum Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS).

Briefly, our student’s learning path is: -

Grade R students - are taught the basic stages of reading ability through the ACE Learning to Read Programme.

Grades 1 through to 12 - is ACE based, where the focus is not on tutoring to large class groups but on the needs and abilities of individual students.

Grade 1 to 7 students partake in weekly Coding and Robotic lessons.

Grade 8 and 9 students participate in the Skills Pro curriculum developing skills in Computer Programmes, Word, Excel, Publisher and Access.

In addition to the sport and physical training programmes, students also participate in music classes and Career Development Programmes.

Our Life Orientation programme is a Christian value-based sexuality education programme designed to equip young people with essential knowledgeable facts of life. It encompasses the learning needs at levels grade R to 12, ensuring age-appropriate content.
